At Climate Action Families (CAF), we are driven by a vision of communities flourishing in harmony with the natural world. Our mission is rooted in empowering an intergenerational movement for climate justice—one where youth, families, and friends come together to protect the people and planet we hold dear.
The climate crisis demands action at a significant speed and scale, and CAF is rising to meet this challenge. We’ve been working since 2013 to nurture a generation of informed and passionate youth climate activists and engaged citizens standing in solidarity for environmental justice. We integrate education, community, and action through outdoor adventures, community organizing for state and local campaigns, youth trainings, and regular gatherings. Our climate justice movement is better for everyone with art, nature connection, and play.

What Makes CAF Unique
Our work is about more than raising awareness—it’s about equipping people with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to take meaningful action. CAF empowers young people to become climate leaders in their schools, communities, and beyond through a blend of education, action, and community connection.
We believe in the power of creativity, nature, and play to strengthen our movement. Our Climate Action Labs, for example, use custom-designed imagery and media to make climate topics accessible and engaging for youth. These labs aren’t just workshops; they’re spaces where young people can connect, envision solutions, and take their first steps as changemakers.
Our Impact
CAF’s work has achieved measurable results over the years, proving that grassroots efforts can create systemic change. Here are some highlights of our recent successes:
- Helped secure $40M per year for Washington’s EV School Bus Bill, accelerating the transition to clean transportation for schools.
- Successfully blocked Initiative 2117 with a big coalition, ensuring Washington remains a national leader in climate justice.
- Relaunched our Climate Justice Intro Training, empowering new advocates to take their first steps in climate activism.
- Working to hold Seattle Public Schools accountable to their promises under the Clean Schools Resolution, pushing for healthier, more sustainable learning environments.
These achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the collective strength of our community. Since our founding, we’ve trained over 600 youth in climate justice through our advocacy programs and events. Many of these young activists have gone on to influence climate policies at local, state, and national levels.
