CAF Seattle Re-united and Re-energized for Climate Justice
After years of Zoom meetings, emails, and virtual hugs, CAF Seattle finally had the chance to be together in person for a social gathering. The evening was nothing short of magical—filled with the warmth of old friendships, the spark of new ideas, and the hum of collective energy that makes this community so vibrant.
Being in person again allowed us to feel the collective the heartbeat of our community, and it reminded us why the ‘C’ for Connection and ‘E’ for Equity in our C-R-E-A-T-E model is so vital. We are more than just a climate justice movement; we are a family that offers a safe, inclusive space for all ages and backgrounds to come together and make a tangible impact
A member who’s been part of the community for over 7 years (since they were 6 yrs old) introduced a project aimed at ensuring our gubernatorial candidates in Washington know where young people stand on climate and environmental justice. This project will play a pivotal role in directing the focus of the candidates toward the climate crisis. CAF believes in empowering youth and positioning them at the forefront of change because after all, they are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are making waves right here, right now!
With paints and brushes, young people made t-shirts to express the vision they intend to CREATE and everyone sang beautiful songs, including “Light is Returning” (by Charlie Murphy) and worked on hand motions to the Song “Do It Now “(Bella Ciao), and there was plenty of laughter.
As we wrapped up our meeting, we took a moment to marvel at the wonder of being part of something so much larger than ourselves. We felt the joy, the awe, the pure wonder that comes from being fully engaged in work we love with people we care about. Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey, and here’s to many more in-person gatherings to come!
