Thank you everyone who attended Environmental Lobby Day! Our CAF climate alliance came together with other youth and community members to make their voices heard. They rallied in front of the Washington State Capitol, represented the planet through their art, and even had a chance to talk to State District legislators! 🌎💚
Standing with coalition organizers and fellow citizen lobbyists, our climate alliance of youth was able to directly advocate and fight for change in the legislative world, many for the first time!
Highlights of the Day
🎨 Creative Climate Justice Art
Our vibrant artwork, signs, and creative expressions brought life to our rally. From hand-painted banners to signs the youth made on-site, our visual advocacy gained a lot of attention from our fellow lobbyists.
📢 Rallying around the Capitol
As lobbyists and coalition members took the stage to lead chants and deliver passionate speeches, our Youth Lead Emory delivered an impactful to represent CAF and our planet toward the crowds!
🏛️ Speaking with Legislators
The highlight of a lot of youth’s time at Lobby Day was getting to have actual discussions with Capitol legislators. In small group meetings within the legislative offices, CAF youth shared personal stories and asked thoughtful, strategic questions about environmental policy. Their commitment to holding lawmakers accountable and pushing for meaningful action was evident in every conversation. Additionally, everyone had the opportunity to observe a Senate Hearing for Higher Education & Workforce Development, gaining insight into the legislative process.
🎉 Building Connections for Future Action
Beyond policy discussions, Environmental Lobby Day fostered new friendships and deepened connections within the movement. The relationships built during the day will fuel continued collaboration and advocacy efforts in the months ahead.
