This past weekend, Climate Action Families hosted CAF Honors 2025, our annual ceremony of storytelling, awards, and adventure! This Honors event was Stranger Things and 80s themed– families came dressed in a mix of fantasy and retro attire, while enjoying 80s music in our Upside Down ambience. The event brought together youth leaders, families, and allies to celebrate another year of climate action and recognize the champions of our movement- while enjoying delicious food!
As adventurers arrived, they were welcomed by the Dungeon Master, Wizard, and Herald, inviting them to sit for dinner and setting the stage for their journey. We had a potluck of tamales, tacos, and other snacks to enjoy while waiting for the ceremony to start.
The ceremony began with our slideshow recap, where we looked back on the incredible work of the past year. From climate justice trainings to Youth Lobby Day, from speaking out against cruise ship pollution to legislative wins like the Electric School Bus Bill, we reminisced on all the work we did this year.
But the climax of the night was the Honors Award Ceremony! One of the most special moments of the evening was the First Quest Awards, honoring youth who attended CAF events for the first time this year. These young adventurers took their first steps into climate activism, bringing fresh energy and new voices into our movement.
Beyond the First Quest Awards, the night celebrated many other champions of the movement. Group awards recognized teams who worked together to create change, and individual awards highlighted outstanding leadership, activism, and creativity. We also honored Baird Helliwell for five years of service and recognized Emory for an incredible ten years of activism.
The night ended with our group photo, an ice cream waffle bar, and a closing ceremony. Thank you so much to everyone who attended… and all the youth, families, allies, and leaders that made this year an amazing one. The work we complete together is so important and is not going unseen. See you next year!
